THE FARM

Harvest Select operates approximately 4500 acres of water in Alabama, Arkansas, and Mississippi that provide the perfect home for our fingerlings to grow for the next 18 months. These grow out ponds range in size from 8 to 15 acres and are approximately 4 to 6 feet deep. Our ponds are supplied with sparkling, fresh water pumped from clear, cold underground reservoirs and oxygen levels are constantly monitored and adjusted as needed.  Our catfish are fed a high protein diet of soybeans, corn, wheat, vitamins, and minerals.  Farm raised catfish feed while the pellets float on top of the pond, unlike their wild river feeding relatives.  With Harvest Select being involved in every phase, from the egg to the ready- to- harvest catfish, our customers are assured a healthy, clean and mild tasting fish while doing so in an environmentally responsible manner.  Once it is determined that the fish are the optimal size to meet the needs of our customers, our Quality Assurance department will flavor test the fish several times before scheduling a pond for harvest.   When the fish are declared “on flavor”, they are ready for our company owned seining and harvesting department to transfer them to our state of the art processing plants.  Our farms were recently awarded the Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) mark, which is a certification based on standards established by the Global Aquaculture Alliance.  These standards include specific criteria that define responsible practices and food safety controls.  Harvest Select is committed to producing catfish that is wholesome while practicing sound environmental stewardship and fulfilling our responsibilities as global citizens. Our farms, along with our processing facilities, are the first in the industry to receive this certification.  This is just one more way that Harvest Select proves to provide prime quality U.S. Farm Raised Catfish to our customers.
